Claude for advocates, with client data replaced

Clients' and parties' names, addresses and identifiers reach Anthropic as consistent stand-ins, and come back restored in Claude's reply.

Your duty

Art. 6 of the Law on the Bar (Prawo o adwokaturze) obliges you to keep secret everything you learn while providing legal assistance. The CCBE's guide on generative AI (2 October 2025) asks lawyers not to enter client data into a generative AI tool "unless there are appropriate safeguards in place", among them "setting up relevant technical safeguards".

What bareminimum does about it

  • It is a technical safeguard: personal data is replaced before a request leaves, and only stand-ins reach Anthropic.
  • It refuses what it cannot read, such as attachments and scans, instead of passing them on.
  • It keeps no prompts: they pass through the gateway's memory only.

What stays yours

  • The gateway is run by its operator, not inside your firm; the guide's other safeguards, such as a provider's confidentiality terms or a data protection agreement, remain yours to arrange.
  • The facts of a matter reach Anthropic as written and can still point to a client.
